Kanpur Municipal Corporation Budget

Kanpur Municipal Corporation budget documents provide details of receipts and expenditures of the local body responsible for the civic infrastructure and administration of the city. It provides account-wise details of different types of receipts and expenditure, both revenue and capital.

About the Budget

1. The 2014-15 budget presents the 2012-13 (actuals), 2013-14 (RE), 2013-14 (10 months actuals till January 2014), 2014-15 (BE). The 2015-16 budget presents the 2013-14 (actuals), 2014-15 (RE), 2014-15 (10 months figures till January 2015), 2015-16 (BE).
2. The 2013-14 (BE) figures were taken from the 2013-14 Budget Document. The Revenue and capital receipts details are limited in the 2013-14 document. Information is available only upto Major code level. However, these details are provided for expenditure section which has been captured in the data set.
3. There is some reclassification of items from 2014-15 budget to 2015-16 budget. These have been detailed in the summary worksheet. We have recast these 2014-15 budget items consistent with the 2015-16 budget presentation.
4. In the budget document, detailed estimates are presented Account Head wise. The same presentation has been followed in the datasets.
5. Major Codes and Major Heads have been derived from the Account Codes and Account Heads in the budget document.
6. The major account codes are in 4 digits. We have given the description for the major account codes. We could not infer the minor account code as Kanpur municipal does not seem to follow the National Municipal Accounting Manual. We could not access the UP Municipal Accounting Manual.
7. Revenue and Capital receipts are referred to as Revenue and Capital Income in the budget document.
