Aizawl Municipal Corporation Budget

Budget of Aizawl Municipal Corporation provides major account code wise details of different types of receipts, both revenue and capital. It also provides details of expenditure, revenue and capital.

About the Budget

1. The items of revenue and expenditure are arranged major account code wise. The account codes are compliant with the National Municipal Accounting Manual.
2. The function wise totals are given as a summary. This information is not given at account level. Further, as the information given in the function summary is not clear and not consistent over the years, we have not mapped the same to the data set. To give an example, the Revenue Receipts under 'Planning and Regulations' for 2015-16 is Rs.75,50,000/- Refer Page 8 of the document. The same amount is classified as part of Revenues (Others) in Page 10 of the document. If we refer the same items in the 2014-15 budget document, there are more inconsistencies.
3. In the budget documents the amounts are in Rupees. We have converted the amounts to Rs. lakhs for the data set.
4. Certain descriptions in the 2016-17 budget document are marginally different from the descriptions in the 2015-16 budget document. We have retained the descriptions in the 2015-16 budget document in such cases.
5. The budget estimates of 2013-14 are from the 2014-15 budget document, the budget estimates for 2014-15 are from the 2015-16 budget document and the budget estimates for 2015-16 and 2016-17 are from the 2016-17 budget document.
6. When there are nil allocations in the budget, the municipal corporation presents it as a dash or as a blank or a zero. In the data set, we have presented nil allocations as zero.
