Blue Revolution
The 'Blue Revolution' scheme or 'Neel Kranti Mission', launched in the year 2014, has now been consolidated under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). The main objective of the scheme is to develop, manage, and promote fisheries to double fish farmers’ income. The scheme aims at revolutionising the fisheries sector in India through its sustainable, responsible, and holistic development alongside the welfare of fisherfolk. The scheme is implemented in all the States and Union Territories of India.
