Varanasi Municipal Corporation Budget

Varanasi Municipal Corporation budget documents provide details of receipts and expenditures of the civic body. It gives account head-wise details of different types of receipts and expenditure, both revenue and capital.

About the Budget

1. The budget is arranged account code wise.
2. The 2015-16 budget documents gives the details for 2013-14 (actual), 2014-15 (Revised Estimates), 2014-15 (actual till December 2014) and 2015-16 (Budget Estimates). The 2014-15 budget documents gives the details for 2012-13 (actual), 2013-14 (Budget Estimates), 2013-14 (actual till December 2013) and 2014-15 (Budget Estimates). This data set gives the figures for 2012-13 (actual), 2013-14 (BE), Actual till December 2013, 2014-15 (BE), 2013-14 (Actual), 2014-15 (RE) and 2015-16 (BE). The 2014-15 (BE) figures in the data set are from the 2014-15 budget document.
3. The budget document does not always specify details of major and minor codes. The NMAM was used as a guide to give the Major code details as the Accounting Manual for UP Urban Local Bodies is not available.
4. Many account codes were changed by the Municipal Corporation in 2015-
5. We have used the account codes given in the 2015-16 budget document. Therefore, if the same item had a different account code in 2014-15, we ignored the old code and placed the item against the new code. However, certain items in 2014-15 were not assigned new codes. Therefore they appear with their old codes. There is an overlap of codes where the old code was reassigned to a different item in 2015-
7. The terminologies used in the budget document are Revenue and Capital Income and Expenditure.
