About the Budget
- The Budget Document of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation is presented in Gujarati. This is the translated version (into English) of the original Gujarati document.
- Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation budget is presented head wise with budget codes and each head is assigned account code and the outlay/expenditure/receipts are shown with account codes. The budget codes have three digits and account codes have five digits.
- The budget codes vary a lot for the same heads. It is not clear why this is so.
- The Budget does not provide the opening balance or the closing balance for any of the years presented here.
- The figures are given in Rs. Lakhs.
- The Annual budget is proposed by the Municipal Commissioner and the Standing Committee makes amendments and the final budget is approved by the Municipal Corporation's General Body. So it is the Standing Committee's approved budget that is passed (approved) by the General Body (Majority Rules).
- As per the Article 63 (2) of the Bombay Municipal Corporation Act (Now Gujarat Municipal Corporation Act, every corporation has to earmarked 10% of Corporation's Revenue Receipt (Own fund) for the SCs, STs, and OBC's welfare (by providing amenities or other civic development works). But the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation does not give a separate statement for that.
