Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Budget (Updated till FY 2021-22)

Budget of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) provides details of receipts and expenditures of the local body. It contains department-wise details of different types of receipts including tax and non-tax receipts, grants, etc. from State Finance Commission, Government of India and so on. It also provides details on expenditure incurred for various services provided by various departments of the corporation.

About the Budget

1. There are several changes in the presentation of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike budget over the years.
2. In each year's budget document, since 2017-18, a number of new data items were added. It was difficult to segregate various receipts and expenditure items into and revenue and capital categories. The capital revenue segregation was visible only for the latest years.
3. In 21-22 budget document, the categorisation is significantly different from the previous year's documents. Several data points were merged as one in budget documents in some the financial years, especially in the budget year 2021-22.
4. A new category of extra ordinary receipts and payment was added in 2021-22 budget documents which was not available in previous year documents. So, based on the 2021-22 budget documents, those specific items are classified into extraordinary receipts and payments for previous years as well.
5. In 2021-22 document, a large number of new data points in public Works department were added and they were without any code.
6. In the 2021-22 budget, most of the data are given with the accounting codes as per Municipal Finance Accounting Manual.
